A word from the Provincial

Jacques D'Arcy, S.S., Provincial
Jacques D'Arcy, S.S.
A hearty welcome to our Internet site The Canadian Province Sulpicians.

The society of Saint Sulpice was born through the charisma of our founder, Jean-Jacques Olier, pastor of Saint Sulpice parish in Paris. He was a specialist in the formation of priests. He was also imbued with a missionary spirit, which gave birth to the Canadian Province Sulpicians. Being a member of the Société Notre-Dame which founded Ville-Marie, now Montreal, he sent over four Fathers in 1657 who were the first Sulpicians here.

As you visit our site, you will realize that the Montreal Society is still working toward the formation of diocesan priests. Imbued with the same missionary spirit of its founder, Jean-Jacques Olier, the Sulpicians have reached out to Edmonton, Rome, Japan, Colombia and Brazil.

Have a fruitful visit!

Jacques D'Arcy, S.S.
Provincial Superior
